2nd Annual Asian & Pacific Islander (API) Women's Ball: The Future We Are Building
In 2023, over 150 API community women joined us at our first HAWA API Women’s Ball held at the Grain Exchange to learn, celebrate and form community with one another. As a Hmong women’s organization, HAWA dreamed of creating a celebratory space for API women in Milwaukee to connect and learn about their democratic power, and why our presence, our issues, and our vote matters. This year, on Saturday May 18, 2024, we hope to double the number by expanding our reach to organizing 300 API community women to celebrate and learn with us at the Bradley Pavilion. 2024 is a critical year for us as Asian and Pacific Islander women, and Queer-fem women. Our local, state and federal election this year is going to drastically impact us and our communities right here in Milwaukee. It is crucial for us to learn about what elections mean for us, how policy will decide how our communities navigate resources, and hear from each other about what issues impact us. We want to be able to do this, while also convening in a celebratory way because as API women, we deserve joy and celebration.
